Avoid Paying Costly Fines in Broward's Teen Traffic Court

Distracted_Teen_SmallGetting behind the wheel in your teenage years can be overwhelming and dangerous but a new Teen Traffic Court in Broward is focused on getting help and education to all drivers under 18, instead of lumping them in with everyone else.

The program targets first-time teenage offenders and offers them a chance to avoid paying a fine and other typical consequences of getting a ticket while trying to educate them on their new road responsibilities.

I wholeheartedly agree with the concept as  traffic accidents continue to be the leading cause of death for US teens and the problem is especially bad in Florida -- the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the state leads the nation in per capita fatal crashes involving drivers ages 15 to 19.

The Teen Traffic Court is a great opportunity to impress upon young drivers how important it is to be responsible and safe drivers. The new Florida texting law  is only one of the potential pitfalls they face on the road: multitasking, drinking and driving, speeding and general distracted driving are others.
